While my girlfriend takes a million years to pick something up.

This is one of the most optomistic speedos ever. It goes up to 120mph.

Somebody had a post about speedos and why they are so high despite cars not being able to reach the top listed speed. Boiled down to 2 things: perception and convenience. A higher speedo makes shoppers think the car is faster/more powerful. People like when the highway speed is near the top of the speedo so 70-80 in the middle because it's easier to glance and see how fast you're going.

My gf asked about her car last summer. I think the speedo goes to 160 mph. Obviously her 3 can't go that fast but she wanted to know why did they lie to her.

I wonder if it's a bit to do with manufacturing efficiency as well. Why make a speedo that goes up to 70, one that goes to 90 and one that goes to 110 if you can make one that goes to 120 and put it in all the cars?

I've the same with mine, it was fitted with a higher reading speedo as an optional extra, even though the car is limited to 180km/h

looking at it, i've ended up with about the same amount of unused speedo as you!

It's mostly just dirt and rust, with some car underneath.

My wife mastered makeup inside the car. So she gets ready while we're getting wherever we're going.

Upside is that she is always on time, and I rarely have to wait for more than 5 minutes.

Downside is there's makeup all over the passenger area sometimes. Especially the door, where she keeps the makeup while she applies it, so it spills a little, and the used kleenex that she forgets to throw away.

We're rarely in the car together really, this time was just because we parked in a disabled spot outside uni while she picked sonething up. So I waited so I could move the car if anyone needed the space/ a warden came.

There were others free and the only other places to stop either impede traffic, or cost money. We were only there 15 minutes in total. I was sat in the drivers seat so I could move it for someone who needed the space more.

You're right but there is a psychological effect. Maybe it doesn't on people who know cars but for the average person it probably does. If it didn't manufacturers wouldn't bother to pay for studies to show it.

True, well if they can but a cheap bodykit on a 1.2 Corsa and convince people it's sporty, I'm sure they can with the high numbered speedo too.

You'd think these were race cars the way they get driven.
